Housecleaning Tips: Clean Bathroom Habits
Unfortunately, cleaning the bathroom is not a favorite housecleaning chore – especially if you have a big family.
So, to make it less arduous and distasteful, adopt a clean-as-you-go attitude. This means that after using the bathroom, each member of the household does a little clean-up job.
This may sound easier said than done, but if you lay the groundwork, it could happen! By putting a few things in place, it makes it easier for people to use them and pretty soon, bathroom tidiness becomes as natural a process as, well …. you know.
- Trash bins
Provide a trash can or any waste receptacle inside the bathroom so that all who are using can throw their waste in a designated places. Inform all members of the family that it is everyone’s responsibility to empty the waste bin once it is full.
- Squeegee
Moisture and mineral build-up from the water in a bath or shower creates quite a big job for someone to clean if left for days. Purchase a small squeegee and hang it in the shower and/or bath. Instruct everyone to use it to wipe the walls and remove excess moisture from them. It takes only a minute or two, and it will save a ton of scrubbing later.
- Toilet bowel brush
Place a toilet bowel brush in container near every toilet in your home. This encourages those who use the bathroom to give the toilet bowl a quick scrub after use.
- Towels
Especially after a hot shower, bathroom mirrors and glass doors tend to get steamy. Hang a glass-wiping towel in an accessible area in the bathroom so that it is handy for anyone who used the shower or washed up to wipe the mirror.
- Paper towels
Brushing one’s teeth, retouching make-up or splashing water on one’s face will surely leave some residue on the sink. Leave absorbent paper towels in a handy spot and ask family members to do a quick wipe of the sink. For extra cleanliness, also include a spray bottle of vinegar and water to get things squeaky clean.
With these small but important details of bathroom maintenance taken care of on a regular basis, 15 minutes should be enough time to do the overall housecleaning once a week.
Like most people, if cleaning a bathroom is not how you dream about spending your time, a housecleaning service can bring it to a beautiful spic and span state in no time!
